The Punters Prerogative will review the Masters Golf Tournament this weekend, as horse punting opportunities are limited due to the Easter break. As with the betting of most golf tournaments the prices are pretty big if you are looking outside of the top 7 in the market. Plenty of value and triple figure prices are to be had and PaddyPower are paying to 6 places and will refund all losing bets if Tiger Woods wins the tournament. With that in mind - they are probably the only place to have a punt this weekend.
After careful consideration (I may regret this come Sunday evening) I have decided to leave Woods alone and instead look for some value American each way shots. My first pick is Matt Kuchar - he has 3 top 10 finishes over the past month and has rested up nicely missing the last two weekends of golf. Hopefully, this break means he will be fresh & hungry and at 60/1 he is easy to back. Next up for the yanks has got to be Steve Stricker - the Ryder Cup veteran is never far away and I am hoping he can card a few consistent rounds and be in the shake up come Sunday - at 50/1 he is a great e/w price.
For the Europeans I hope that Rory McIlroy can keep the devil at bay that cost him so dearly last year and claim the green jacket this time around, as he has proved he is a phenomenal talent since his late hiccup last year. However, I will not be having a punt on him and instead will place a small e/w on his fellow countryman GMac - McDowell is a huge price of 66/1 for a Major winner & I will have some of that.
The Rest of the World have some huge prices next to their names and I will be backing two Korean players who seem to be there or there about's in the big fields of the Majors - these are K.J Choi 60/1 & Y.E Yang 125/1. Another Asian player who will be getting some attention is Sang-Moon Bae 175/1, his first round pairing contains Tiger Woods and this will be a good indicator of how he will handle the pressure of the Masters. If he manages to card a decent first 9 I will punting on him too.
So this weekends selections are:
Matt Kuchar - 60/1
Steve Stricker - 50/1
Graeme MacDowell - 66/1
KJ Choi - 60/1
YE Yang - 125/1
Sang-Moon Bae - 175/1 (first 9 dependent)
The first round has or is about to tee off so get on quick - remember to use the Paddy Power as they have a great offer on - if you don't already have an account with them - please use the link provided to sign up and receive a bonus.
Happy Punting!
